About the work:

This lithograph was used as the fortispiece of Vol. IV of 'Picasso lithographe', edited by André Sauret and issued in a number of 3000 copies. The original print was hand-coloured with chalk by Picasso. The back shows the title page of the mentioned publication and a hand-written dedication to Charles Feld, Picasso's signature and dating in pencil. Charles Feld was the editor of numerous publications on Picasso's work as well as artist's books with original prints. In over two decades of firendly cooperation with Picasso, Feld established a collection of more than hundred drawings, lithographs and books by Picasso, which he sold during an auction at Cheverney castle in 1995, three months prior to his death. The back of the work is stamped bottom right with 'COLLECTION VENTE CHEVERNEY 1995'.
